Wall Street to Main Street: News, Views and Commentary: May 26, 2006

Its Friday May 26, 2006, and its the last day of the trading week and the beginning of a three-day weekend for the market. First and foremost we want to remind everyone to lower their flags to half-staff in memory of the soldiers that have fallen in battle to keep the United States of America free. We also want to send our thoughts out to all the families of fallen soldiers of the most recent war that is taking place in Iraq.

Now lets get down to business, history was made yesterday and some justice was served in a Texas Courtroom, as Ken Lay and Jeff Skilling were found guilty. This is the pair that single handedly forced the Sarbanes-Oxley Act or SOX to be established following the collapse of Enron that left many people without pensions to fall back on. So this is a little retribution as the pair could spend the rest of their lives in prison. They will appeal to verdict but it may do them no good, as they will just delay the inevitable a few more months or so. I dont think that anyone was really shocked by the verdict but the families of the defendants, as Lay and Skilling pleaded the It Wasnt Me defense. So lets hope that they are supplied with soap on a rope.

Now what this pair did is a far cry from a stock options issuance, but the stock options probe still continues and is growing. There are companies being dragged into this probe that are actually good companies and have done well for investors, companies such as UnitedHealth (NYSE: UNH) and Power Integrations (NASDAQ: POWI) which we happen to like but this probe is a dark cloud over both of these companies. Now what all of this scrutiny may actually do is deter good CEOs from running public companies and push them into the private sectors.

Tid Bits

Michael Dell or Dell, Inc (NASDAQ: DELL) has been awoken, and when you awaken a sleeping giant things do begin to happen. Dell has inked a deal with Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) to have Googles software bundle in millions of new Dell computers coming out of the factory. So this is just another step for Dell as their next step is the retail sector.

Yahoo (NASDAQ: YHOO) has found synergy with eBay (NASDAQ: EBAY) as the companies team up in a multiyear partnership that will draw on the strengths of both Yahoo and eBay in online advertising, payments and communications so they can connect with even more Web surfers than they already do. This is a strategic move for both companies as they band together to combat the mighty Google.

As we anticipated Las Vegas Sands (NYSE: LVS) beat the competition and has won the bid to build Singapore's first casino this morning. LVS is the largest casino operator in the world and this entry into Singapore is a big step for the company as the profit margins in Asia for casinos are much higher than in the United States so you can expect Las Vegas Sands to easily traded above its 52 week high of $73.14, as investors and institutions begin to realize their future potential. This company could actually bring in more revenue than ever once this casino is completed.

Movers and Shakers

Some major movers in yesterday trading session include Stone Energy (NYSE: SGY) which traded up $9.19 to close at $49.95, the run up is due to a buy out offer from Energy Partners Limited (NYSE: EPL) of $2 billion, Big Lots (NYSE: BLI) traded up $2.80 to close at $16.31 due to a better than expected earnings forecast, this pushed Big Lots to a two-year high, Companhia Energetica (NYSE: CIG) traded up $5.22 to close at $41.05, J2 Global Communications (NASDAQ: JCOM) traded up $3.20 to close at $28.15, eBay (NASDAQ: EBAY) traded up $3.68 to close at $33.88, United Natural Foods (NASDAQ: UNFI) traded up $3.31 to close at $33.72 and Geoglobal Resources (AMEX: GCR) which traded up $1.07 to close at $6.32.

Downers

Due to market conditions we found it necessary to make our readers/listeners aware of companies that have been taking a little spanking, some of these stocks may be at a discount but you need to do your research, look at the charts and make sure that nothing fundamentally has changed with the company and whether it is just being dragged by the market or not. There are companies that are actually a slave to the Dow and present buying opportunities.

Some stocks that traded down yesterday include Joy Global (NASDQ: JOYG). Now this is a stock that was ripped apart in yesterdays trading session and it was most certainly overdone. They reported that their profit doubled but that was due to improved margins, something that would not be repeated in future quarters. So the sellers came out in force and smaller investors followed. The stock went as low at $45.77 before institutions rolled in at about 2:30 pm EST give or take a few minutes, and started to buy cheap stock. As an investor you need to seek out oversold situations like Joy Global because as quickly as they come down in a trading session as they could easily bounce back up once the bleeding stops. This is why we are going to initiate stock alerts on the NAMC Newswire for our subscribers..

Here we go again, another situation that was oversold, the China based online game operator and developer, The9 Limited (NASDAQ: NCTY) dropped down $3.55 to close at $23.72, the stock dropped as low as $21.89 before the bleeding began to stop. They missed the mark with their earnings this is what dragged the stock down, So you have either a flood of shorts diving in or a few institutions unloading shares, either way it puts the stock on a downward pattern, investors panic and start to unload and in certain cases forces the stock to break certain levels on the charts which trigger even more selling. But then you have bottom fishers that are looking for situations like this and they usually profit nicely from it.

Now lets look at a company called Libbey (NYSE: LBY) it has been climbing down the mountain after a couple of attempts of making upward movement. The stock broke a one-month low and could fall lower but this isnt a mass sell off, the stock is just gradually breaking down on the chart. It traded down 86 cents to close at $11.38 yesterday and could continue that downward movement as the next support level is in the $9.50 range. At that level you may find an entry point but not before then,

Other stocks that traded down yesterday include Lyon Williams Homes (NYSE: WLS) which traded down $9.05 to close at $122.00, Genesco (NYSE: GCO) traded down $2.00 to close at $36.55, Omnicare (NYSE: OCR) traded down $3.54 to close at $44.46, Blue Coat Systems (NASDAQ: BCSI) traded down $3.91 to close at $15.65, MWI Vetinary Supply (NASDAQ: MWIV) traded down $2.99 to close at $30.19, Books-A-Million (NASDAQ: BAMM) closed down $1.22 to close at $14.13 and KongZhong (NASDAQ: KONG) which traded down 95 cents to close at $11.55.

How The Value of Stocks Are Influenced

A stocks value can change at any given moment, depending on market conditions, investor perceptions, or a number of other issues. When investors pour money into a company's stock, they do so because they believe that the company is going to turn a profit, and the company's stock will go up in value. However if the investors decide that the company's outlook is poor, and they don't invest, or if they sell the stock that they already own, then the company's stock price will fall.

Investors that purchase stock, believe that others will by the stock as well, and that the share price will rise. Investing is a gamble, but its nothing like betting on horses. a long shot always has a chance to win the race even if everyone else is betting on the favorite. But in the stock market, the betting itself actually influences the outcome. Should lots of investors bet on a particular stock, the price of the stock will rise. The stock becomes more valuable because investors want it. The reverse is also true, if investors sell their stock in a company, the stock will fall in value. The more a stock fall, the more investors will sell.

Some people just invest in stock to get a quarterly dividend payment. Dividends are a portion of the company's profits that are paid out to its shareholders. Lets say that if a company declares a annual dividend of $8 dollars a share, and you own 100 shares then you will have made $800 dollars a year, or they would be paid $200 dollars each quarter. The company's board of directors decides how large of a dividend the company will pay, or if it will pay one at all. Most of the time only large, mature companies pay dividends. Smaller companies need to keep reinvesting their profits in-order to continue to grow.

All stocks don't act alike. One of the basic differences is how closely a stocks value, or price, is tied to the condition of the economy. Cyclical stocks are the shares of a company that are highly dependant on the state of the economy. When the economy slows down, their earnings fall rapidly, and so dose the price of their stock. However once the economy recovers, a company's earnings will rise rapidly and their stock will go up.

Your Forex Trading Style - The Spider Or The Cat Approach?

Forex trading is a very individual activity and each trader has a particular Forex trading style depending on their personality type.

Being able to objectively analyze our own trading style is a great asset. We can then develop our style into a more consistent trading method by identifying positive and negative characteristics. The following analogy from the natural world is a tool we can use for self-analysis.

The Cat Versus the Spider

What's the difference?

Cat's Chase Their Prey

Cats by instinct chase their prey. They may stalk for a while and then pounce and chase, following their prey.

Applied to the foreign exchange markets, this type of Forex trading style involves watching for a price breakout or a substantial move in one direction and then joining it, effectively chasing the market.

Some traders like to have this confirmation that price is definitely moving in a particular direction before joining the momentum.

Spider's Net Their Prey

A spider on the other hand spins a web and patiently waits for the prey to come to them. The unsuspecting fly gets caught in the net and the spider gets a meal.

This analogy, as applied to a Forex trading style, exemplifies the trader who carefully examines price action in relation to previous support and resistance levels and anticipates where price is going to stall.

This trader now places an entry order at the strategic level and waits for price to come to them. When it does and fails to break through, instead retracing or bouncing, the trader gets paid!

Advantages Of The Spider Forex Trading Style

While many traders are successful in going with the momentum there are decided advantages to the spider method.

Entering a trade once price has already moved in a certain direction by 20 or 30 pips exposes one to the risk of a retracement. A bigger stop is necessary to cover the possibility that price may go back 20 or 30 pips to retest a previous line of support or resistance.

Also, price may abruptly stop just after we enter a trade moving rapidly in one direction and then retrace taking out the stop for a loss.

On the other hand, after carefully assessing major lines of support and resistance by looking at the higher time frames and seeing where price highs and lows have been over the last few days, we can predict where price is likely to stall or retrace.

Using Fibonacci calculations along with pivot points we can sometimes see 2 or 3 layers of support and resistance. If price has already moved a substantial number of pips during the trading session, it is likely to stall at a key support resistance level. Entering a trade at this point means we can set a smaller stop and we are nearer to getting our profit.

On the other hand, price may have moved a substantial number of pips, perhaps 30 or 40 in one direction, and is now retracing. By looking at the previous high or low, and by using Fibonacci, especially the 50% retracement level, we can predict how far price is likely to retrace before continuing in the direction of the trend.

Submitting an entry order to get into the market at that key retracement level often means we can set the stop just 20 to 25 pips away, beyond the price swing or high for safety, and collect a good profit of 25-40 pips at the Fibonacci 127% extension level.

The One That Gets Away

Of course, the spider will sometimes see a powerful fly go straight through the web and knock a hole in it! That's the one that got away.

The spider Forex trading style will sometimes see price go straight through a strong support or resistance level and not hesitate at all. Again, that's the one that got away!

However, more often than not, price will react at key support and resistance levels. By adopting a patient waiting attitude, allowing price to come to you rather than chasing it, a safer trading approach can be developed, one that can contribute to consistent substantial profits in the long run.

Once you have identified your personal Forex trading style, see if there are lessons you can learn and adjustments you can make using the cat and spider analogy. Try to develop the habit of netting your profits as opposed to chasing them!

Currency Trading Systems - 5 Tests to Find the Best Systems

Heres a startling fact: Over 95 percent of the currency trading systems promoted by vendors cause traders to lose their money.

So, how do you find one of the 5 percent of trading systems that make money better yet, make big consistent profits.

Here are 5 tests you should apply, in order to find the best systems to incorporate in your Forex trading strategy - thus helping you and achieve big currency trading gains.

1. The Track Record

As the old saying goes, the proof of the pudding is in the eating - and the first place you need to start with any trading system is the track record.

Look for a system thats been used by the vendor - and made real dollars, in real trading.

The problem is, you wont find many systems that qualify.

Youll normally be given a hypothetical track record. Although these systems havent actually been traded buy the vendor, you can see if theyll work for you, by paying attention to the following points:

. Is it tracked in real time? Some ratings agencies do this and calculate profit and loss. This is almost as good as a real time track record - and well worth considering.

. If the system isnt tracked in real time, then dont buy it - move on!

Anyone can produce a track record knowing the closing prices - and most vendors do this - and hope youre naive enough to buy it. The track records are simply made up, and not worth your consideration.

In conclusion, a currency-trading system either must make real profits, or be tracked in real time - to show that the logic that provides the trading signals is soundly based.

2. The logic

Make sure you understand the logic (even if the system is successful). The reason for this is, you must have confidence in the trading systems ability to make money even when it hits a losing streak.

If you dont understand the system, then you wont have confidence in it - and youll lack the discipline to follow the system. If you dont have the discipline to follow a Forex trading system, then you dont really have a system at all!

3. Personality

Some systems require you to make subjective judgements, whilst other systems are totally objective - you must decide which suits you the best. In addition, are you a patient trader? If so, a long-term system will suit you. If youre impatient, then go for a swing trading system.

You also need to look at the worst peak to valley drawdown, using the systems track record. What is the worst loss you would have taken? - And how long did it take to recover?

Are you comfortable with it? Always assume the worst drawdown is to come - and be prepared for it.

Finally, how much work does the trading system need to operate - and do you have sufficient time to operate the system?

4. Find out about the vendor

How long have they been in business? Are they traders themselves?

Ask many questions - and carefully analyse the responses - to see if the vendors answers makes you feel comfortable.

Are they the type of people who you are comfortable working with? Do you think that youll get support when you need it? Start asking questions and youll soon find out!

5. Guarantee

Never buy a currency trading system without a guarantee of satisfaction.

Most vendors who have confidence in their system will give you a money back guarantee and sufficient time to test the system. You should also carefully check the terms and conditions of the guarantee and if you're not happy with them, pass the system by. Somebody will be offering another new trading system for sale before long!

Final Words

Successful currency trading systems are out there - you just have to find them. If you do find a good trading system, it can pay back the purchase price hundreds, maybe even thousands of times over.

Forex Strategy Trading

There's no doubt about it, if you're interested in genuine investment opportunities, then forex strategy trading offers you enormous possibilities. More commonly known as the foreign exchange market, it is believed that the forex sees approximately $1.5 billion in turnovers each and every day. However, in order to see regular returns on your investments, its vital you have some knowledge of forex strategy trading.

Your first step in forex strategy trading is to learn the market. Get to know the market and educate yourself on how the system works. Youll find that the major players on the forex marketplace are the commercial banks, central banks and also businesses who deal in foreign trade. Many companies and individuals are attracted to the forex market because of the speed and the liquidity of assets. Transactions take place in an instant and many are attracted to the promise of large profits.

The currencies most frequently traded are the US Dollar, the Euro, the Japanese Yen, the British Pound and the Australian Dollar. Trading is both speculative and virtual in nature, there isnt a physical product that is actually being brought or sold. For instance, you might decide to buy the British Pound with the US Dollar in the hope of seeing a rise in the pound. Then when its value has risen, you would sell it for a profit.

Also, before you actually start trading, practice! You can actually practice trading on paper. This will help to become familiar on how the market works. You will find that some online brokers do permit free paper trades, this helps you to practice and get used to the tools and software involved and of course, you gain invaluable experience in the process.

When choosing a forex dealer, be sure to do your research on the company. Make certain that the dealer is regulated by the law and can offer good customer service. Avoid any dealers with schemes that sound too good to be true!

Forex trading may well seem attractive and a good way to invest your money. But it can be stressful at times and even the most experienced investors will make losses from time to time. The key is to minimize the losses by educating yourself, learning from your errors and following a strategy that works for you.

How to Analyze the Veracity of Investment Newsletters

When trying to analyze whether a promotional ad for an investment newsletter or a market timing investment trading system is worthy of investigation, the following questions should be asked:

Does the strategy have a track record? Without this you are really allowing your emotions to be in play. All of us want to believe that if someone says something it must be true. Yet the sad fact is the truth is probably just the opposite. Most ads and promotions are put in print for self interests first, and all else second. One has to view anything on the web with a skeptical eye. The minimum that an investment strategy should give you is a previous track record. The longer the track record is the better. Something that has worked for a matter of months is usually not long enough in the trading world to be considered successful. Some promoters do not release their track records because they say that past performance is not an indication of future results. This is true but certainly no performance is not an indication of future results either. Some promoters do not release their track records because they say we used to do a track record but subscribers got upset if the strategy lost money when they subscribed even though it made money over a yearly period. That may also be true but it is also part of the game. Subscribers can not expect to make money from day one when trading a long term strategy. However, that should be self evident in the track record. And some promoters do not release their track records simply because they dont have one or they have a bad one. Its as simple as that no matter what they say.

Is the track record that they are promoting in real time or was it simulated in a computer based on past data? What does this really mean? Real time means that the trading signals that were used to produce the track record results were actually generated at that specific moment in time. In reality. Most track records on the investment web sites are not real time even when they say they are. Even if they did not use a computer and it was done by hand, if the data taken from the last five years but the web site is only a year old then it cant be so. Why is this so important? Because trading is not trading if human emotions are removed. No greed, no complacency, no panic, no hysteria. Almost all computer-generated trading programs fail miserably when actually implemented because either the data was too short a time period or the human factor was ignored. That is assuming the human that input the data did it without human emotion. I once had an acquaintance who told me he had a system that returned 80% per month for the last 6 months. He said he implemented it 6 months in real time. I asked how much he had invested in this strategy. He said nothing because he was paper trading. I said that there is no such thing. He proceeded to tell me what paper trading was. I replied that I knew what he thought paper trading was but it is not trading because when you paper trade your emotions are not in play. Human greed and ego has a way of making you believe something to be real without looking objectively at the data. But once actual real money is at risk the complexion of the situation dramatically changes.

How can you tell if the track is in real time if they lie about it being in real time? This is not always easy but there are some basic tell tale signs. If it is a short term system that risks very little and trades often, say 10-50 times per month. Yet it has an 80-90% trade success ratio, which is almost impossible statistically. Most day traders and position traders are doing well if they are winning 40-50% of the time. If they risk more and do not use tight stops, then the win loss ratio goes up but the size of the drawdowns or the size of the largest loss has to go up. Longer term trader may have a slightly better win loss ratio but only if their risk is also larger. To make a general statement, the larger the win loss ratio is the more I would be skeptical.

What if the track record is a combination of partly historically back tested signals and partly real time signals. How should I analyze that? The first thing to look at is if the win loss ratio has changed dramatically over the track record time period. For example, if it is a 5 year time period, and the promoter claims that the trade signals went live 2 years ago yet the win loss ratio changed dramatically only 6 months ago, beware. The hardest thing to detect on the web is when youre being conned about a hypothetical track record because there is no real way to tell when a web sites track record was edited deleted or revised. Some web sites use an independent tracking site but there are no real ways for a consumer to know other than that.

I hope that the previous ideas will help to determine fact from fiction in the world of investment newsletter promotions.

The Trend Is Your Friend?

Everyone has heard The Trend is Your Friend. If you follow the trend you can make money. It doesnt matter if the trend is up or down, if you follow it, you will make money.

This is easier said than followed. If youre like me, you spend a great deal of time poring over charts and graphs trying to find a stock that is in a trend. Ive used candle sticks, moving averages, and just about every other charting trick to try and identify where the trend is going. The secret is to try and find the trend when it is starting and follow it until it changes.

It looks so easy when you read about it in the book, but boy is it ever so hard to actually implement. Ive even tried to design my own trading strategy using technical analysis. It is so easy with the charting software; you can do some back testing to try out your great theory that is going to set the world on its edge. I confess, one of the tricks Ive tried was using the 10 day moving average crossing the 30 day moving average as a turning point. Sometimes it works, sometimes it dont.

One thing that Ive discovered is that what works for one person does not necessarily work for another. It comes down to temperament and discipline more than anything else. If you can follow a system, remained disciplined when everything is moving so fast, and have the temperament to face the losses that come your way, you can be successful trading in the stock market.

There are dozens of systems out there, some are better than others. You have to take the responsibility to research how the system works, learn the ins and outs of it. And then, you have to face the question, do I have what it takes to trade this way. You have to be honest with yourself, because if you arent, you will lose your shirt.

Even the best laid plans of mice and men sometimes go awry. You have the perfect stock. The sector is blasting out of orbit. You find the options priced perfectly. You buy a group of call options and wham, the market tanks. Your options expire worthlessly.

Its happen to me more times than I care to remember. If it hasnt happened to you yet, it will, its only a matter of time. It is the nature of the beast that we are trying to tame.

There is just something about day trading that is so exciting. It just gets into your blood. Some days you cant wait for the market to open, so you can go forth and do battle with market. Other days, you just need to quit while youre ahead.

But if you have a couple of bad trades, it can really sour you on the whole trading game. This is when you just have to step back and take a look at it. Maybe, you just need to get away for a day or two. Relax, do something different. Your unconscious mind will work on the problem and when you come back, you will have a better outlook and can spot the trading opportunities faster than they can come at you.

Ive learned the hard way, if I try and stay in the market when things are going bad, it just gets worse. You need to step back and relax, because tomorrow is another day. If you still have your trading capital you can keep in the game. Forex Money Management How To Place Stops and Maximize Profits

Many traders are right about market direction enter a trade and then get stopped out then see it go onto make thousands or tens of thousands of dollars and there not in.

Welcome to the world of forex trading.

The fact is placing stops is in my view the hardest part of trading. Lets look at it in more detail.

Lets dispense with a couple of myths first.

1. FOREX brokers hunt stops.

As trillions of dollars are traded each day no broker is big enough (and no they dont all group together) to move the market to pick off your stops.

You are simply subject to market movement and the volatility that is inherent in trading forex markets.

2. A tight stop is better as there is less risk

Not necessarily so, this is the myth of day trading.

Trade with a tight stop in a short time frame and you have less risk.

Not true. Volatility again is totally unpredictable in short time frames and most day traders near enough guarantee a loss albeit a small one.

However there is no point using a tight stop if you almost guarantee a loss every time.

Ever seen day traders make money?

Well the above is one of the major reasons why.

So how do you place stops?

There are many different ways, but here are some observations as they relate to long term trend following.

1. Support and resistance

Yes, good old fashioned support and resistance is a good way to place a stop.

If for example you are trading a breakout and you think its valid the stop is behind the breakout point.

2. Never move a stop to soon

Many traders trail stops to lock in profits and this is a critical error even experienced traders do.

This in most cases simply sees them stopped out by volatility and reactions to the major trend.

They then end up with marginal profit and miss the big trend.

If you are long term trend following and have confidence keep the stop back and take dips in open equity, this is the only way to hang onto to the really big trends so get used to the feeling, its not nice and you need lots of discipline.

Keep your eye on the big picture and it will be worth it in terms of profit.

3. Dont use indicators for stops

While you can use momentum and other indicators to enter trades and determine price strength and value areas never use them for stop placement.

We love the stochastic but as price indicator but would always use chart support and resistance first.

Bollinger bands are really for defining volatility and value areas it should not be used for stop placement on there own. Keep in mind Bollinger bands used in isolation would re set stops everyday and could create a huge loss.

My own view is support and resistance is the simplest and easiest way to place stops.

Another way is to use a straight monetary loss

I know someone who simply placed a $500 dollar stop from entry. I never knew how his system worked but it certainly worked for him.

The fact remains stop placement is one of the hardest parts of trading forex and there are many ways to do it and we have only touched on the subject here.

Our view

We normally trade breakouts that have been tested numerous times i.e. when a break comes there are high odds of an acceleration of price in the direction of the break.

This means the stop can be simply tucked in below the breakout point meaning risk to reward is good.

This allows a tight stop with great profit potential and we never move it to quickly if we think a good long term trend is developing.

The Word On The Street Is Brazilian Property In Fortaleza

International property investors are right now researching Brazilian property and many are finding the area of Fortaleza, Brazil an attractive place to invest. Cheap land prices a stable economy and low cost of living Brazil is a strong contender for the hottest overseas property location in the world.

Fortaleza is situated on the far northeast coast in one of the driest and sunniest parts of the country. This city of 2.1 million inhabitants is the capital of the state of Ceara and sits along the spectacular Atlantic coastline. Fortaleza is known for its sunny days and active nights

There is something for everyone in this city, from beaches and bars to culture and shopping. Iracema Beach is a popular, eclectic beach that has many all night bars for tourists and locals alike to enjoy. Other popular beaches include the Praio de Futuro, Meireles, Volta da Jurema and Mucuripe. The last three of these beaches are connected to each other by the Avenida Beira-Mar, a three mile long road with just about anything anyone could want. The largest water park in Brazil is at Porto das Dunas, about 20 minutes south of the city.

Fortaleza has many existing properties for sale that are available at very reasonable properties. For those looking for a place to retire, this is a hard place to beat with existing costs so low. It is also beginning to see some major developments spring up, particularly along the coast outside of the city. Taibai Beach Gardens is a new development about 60 minutes outside the city and The Fountains, Praia das Fontes, about 50 minutes south of the city are two popular new developments. These and other developments have many off-plan units for sale, and the values are only expected to rise in the coming years.

Development and investment is slowly moving up the Brazilian coast and now is a great time to get into this area. Over the next few years, there will be much greater activity in these areas, and the investments and values of all properties will rise.

With the recent opening of its new international airport terminal, getting to Fortaleza is becoming easier. Pinto Martins International Airport (FOR) opened its terminal in 1998 and is just 15 minutes from downtown. Because of its location it is the closest major Brazilian city to Europe and there are an increasing number of charters that fly directly into Fortaleza. There is connecting service from Salvador, Rio de Janeiro, and Sao Paulo.

Brazil is already making investors money house prices are picking up and the currency is getting stronger no wonder the word on the investment street is Fortaleza Brazil.

Nicholas Marr is clearly an observer of life and front row spectator of the events in the overseas property market. A lifetime property investor his UK based company Marr International owns one of the fastest growing overseas property websites in Europe at http://www.homesgofast.com and Brazilian property website at http://www.brazilian-homes.com/

Forex Course Trading

Nothing can help you better understand the nuances of the exciting tools and strategies of the forex market than a forex course trading. If you are a first time player or want to start as a foreign currency trader, a course in the forex market can guide you and build your confidence to face the real world.

The foreign currency market is highly developed with some of the most advanced trading systems and features available to make your decisions more scientifically. Whether you are a day trader or a long term player, you need to develop your own strategies to time the market and your entry and exit points. Forex course trading can help you in your understanding of the terms and concepts. As you learn the basic tricks of the trade, you can learn the advances strategies, straddle concepts, technical analysis indicators, charting software and other tit bits to gain your foothold in the forex market.

Forex market demands a fair bit of knowledge about the finer aspects of trading and techniques to be successful consistently. Hence it is all the more important that you are armed with right training. Forex course trading can fill that gap and make even a novice an expert in the field.

While it is true that no forex trading course can make you rich overnight, it is also true that there are no magic formulae to make money in the shortest possible time. It is only patience, hard work and consistency that brings dividend in the long run. A good course will equip you not only with the trading strategies but also how to handle exceptions and time your market moves.

Charting and Technical Analysis are one of the most important tools for predicting the future trends and fluctuations. Forex course trading will help you do that to give shape to your strategies for your good. A good trader does not spend his time and energy trading all day. He looks for 4 or 5 good trading opportunities in a week and place his orders based on that analysis. The timing is very important and so is the correctness of his prediction. This way you can earn better than the expected returns without having to time the market all the times. Hence an understanding of the trading systems and rules allow you to concentrate on exceptions rather than all the currencies and commodities for making an entry in the market.

If you are planning to take forex course trading, never be enamored by all those claims of making risk free profits by trading in currency spot and futures. Remember that there are no free lunches. Currency trading is a specialized field and has its own risk reward paradigm. In most of the cases, you will have to adjust your trading strategies to fit that paradigm to remain within the ranges. One wrong move and all your equity may be wiped out. The forex course trading will also help you to understand that sometimes it is better to cut losses than to cut a sorry figure later.

Trading Oil and Gas Contracts Using CFDs

Many traders do not realise that Contracts for Difference can be used not just for stockmarket trading, but also in the forex and commodities markets, and one of the most liquid and exciting markets is crude oil and natural gas. CFDs are usually modelled in the same way as futures contracts, and consequently there are several contracts from which to choose in each category.

It is well known that the crude oil market is normally priced either as either Brent crude or US crude. The current spread between the two is about $3.5, Brent being higher, but this varies according to supply and demand, liquidity and other geopolitical issues.

Different contracts

Within each market, several expiration months are quoted and at the time of writing (June 2007) July, August and September CFDs are available. The difference in prices between the various contracts reflects the cost of carry and other seasonal factors as it would for all commodities.

What this means is that you do not pay financing interest on these CFDs, because all positions are rolled over into expiry and the contract values already price in the cost of carry.

What can you trade?

It is possible to trade various many different CFDs related to oil prices. These include:

Heating oil, for which there is a liquid US-based quote with several expirations

UK Oil and Gas sector CFDs

US Oil and Gas sector CFDs

Individual oil share CFDs including such varied names as Royal Dutch Shell, Statoil, Total-Fina, Exxon Mobil and many smaller oil company stocks around the world

US Natural Gas CFDs with various expirations

Calculating the margin on a US crude contract

As we analyse the US crude oil market every day in our US report, it is worth looking at this contract to calculate what margin is required on a trade.

The current most liquid contract is the July 2007 CFD, priced at $65.86 to $65.92

The margin requirement on most commodities is 3% of the total contract value.

The tick size is 0.01.

The contract value is calculated by this formula:

((Quantity) x (Price))/ Point= initial margin

Therefore if you were to buy 10 US Crude Oil CFDs at $65.92

(10 x 49.50)/ 0.01 x 0.03 = $1,978 initial margin.

The exposure per tick is worth $10.

For online traders, CFDs are an excellent way to gain exposure to the oil market as a speculative play, for hedging purposes, or when searching for good arbitrage possibilities. The markets are liquid and spreads are very attractive.

Forex Guide

The term Forex is the short form of Foreign Exchange. Any type of financial instrument that is used to make payments between countries is taken to be foreign exchange. Electronic transactions, paper currency, checks and signed, written orders called bills of exchange are all instruments of foreign exchange.

Forex indicates increased or decreased value of an investment caused solely by currency movements. For instance finding US dollar weak or going down, an investor might purchase German money markets.

There are quite a few forex indicators. For instance

1.Average Directional Movement Index (ADX)- ADX is used when we need to know the direction in which the market trend is going i.e. either downward or upward and how strong the trend is. When ADX readings over 25 indicate a trend with higher values indicating stronger trends.

2.Moving Average Convergence or Divergence (MACD)- MACD presents the momentum of the market and the liaison between two moving averages. When MACD crosses the signal line it shows a strong market.

3.Stochastic Oscillator- Stochastic Oscillator indicates the strength and weakness of a market by comparing a closing price range over a period of time. Stochastic reading above 80 depicts the currency is overbought while its reading below 20 indicates that the currency is oversold.

4.Relative Strength Indicator (RSI)- RSI or the Relative Strength Indicator is a scale of 100 that indicates the maximum and the minimum prices over a specified period. The price rising above 70 implies overbought while the price falling below 30 means oversold.

5.Moving Average- Moving average Forex indicator is the average price for a given time interval in relation to other prices during the similar time periods. For instance the closing prices over a 5-day period would have a moving average of the total of the five closing prices divided by five.

6.Bollinger Bands- Bollinger bands comprise of a majority of a currencys price. There are three lines in the bands out of which the upper and the lower lines stand for the price movement while the middle one represents the average price. When high volatility prevails in the market, greater distance is witnessed between the upper and the lower bands. The time when a band touches one, overbought and oversold conditions are depicted.

Highest liquidity is observed in the forex market. The forex market absorbs trading volumes and per trade size higher than any other market. This liquidity and the freedom to enter and leave the market anytime attract investors to forex.

Forex market is known for its round the clock trading. When Asian market sleeps the European and American markets are awake and vice-versa. This enables the forex traders to take stands despite of time and place.

Another wonderful feature of forex is that in this trading a small margin deposit can control a much larger total contract value. 200:1 leverage makes forex traders buy or sell $100,000 worth of currencies with $500 margin deposit. Thus the traders often end up making hefty profits. Following the principle of buy low and sell high forex trading allows traders to generate outstanding profits.

Forex trading is quite cost-effective in the sense that there are much lower transaction costs than other investment products.

Forex Trading - How to Read Forex Quotes

If you are new to the world of trading, forex quotes can be pretty confusing. However, it takes just a little know-how, to read them.

What does a foreign exchange quote look like? Look at the following example:

EUR/USD = 1.2526

The above formula shows the foreign exchange rate between the euro and the US dollar.

Remember that in any forex quote, two currencies will always be present. This is because with forex trading, you are buying one currency as you sell another currency.

The first currency listed in a foreign exchange quote is called the "base currency." The second currency in the formula is the "quote currency." Therefore, forex quotes show us the relationship between prices for the two currencies in the quote.

The exchange rate is made up by showing how many units of the quote currency you have to pay in order to buy one unit of the base currency.

The Euro is the base currency, above, and US dollars are the quote currency. The quote shows how each currency trades relative to the other. If you want to buy one Euro unit, therefore, you will have to sell 1.2526 US dollar units.

Next is the "bid/ask" spread. The bid/ask spread is the alternative to broker commissions in the foreign exchange market. Brokers get paid for their work via the bid/ask spread.

With the bid/ask spread added to the above example, it looks like this:

EUR/USD = 1.2526/1.2528

Simplified, it looks like this:

EUR/USD = 1.2526/8

Brokers make their money when they sell currencies for slightly more than they buy them. This is legal and every broker does it. However, the spread can differ significantly between brokers.

When you trade forex, you buy at the bid price, the first price in the above example. You then sell at the ask price, which is the second price quoted. The difference between those two prices is called a "spread;" this is what the broker makes as his or her profit on the trade.

In the above example, you've bought at 1.2526 and sold at 1.2528. The 0.0002, or two pips, goes to the broker as payment for executing the trade. When you look at it this way, you can see that the bid/ask spread is relatively simple and straightforward; it is a relatively easy way to calculate trading fees and expenses.

Tip

When trading currencies I would recommend that you stick to the seven major currencies. They are as follows:

USD - US Dollar

EUR - the Euro

GBP - British Pound

JPY - Japanese Yen

CHF - Swiss Franc

AUD - Australian Dollar

CAD - Canadian Dollar

Learn Forex Before You Decide To Trade

If you think youd like to learn Forex trading, youre not alone. Forex trading has become the next big thing in the individual investors bag of money making tricks, and those who have been attempting to master the art of day trading stocks for years are looking at Forex trading as a much easier way to enhance their incomes.

Anyone can learn Forex trading strategies; the difficulty lies in taking what one has learned and putting it to work in the real world of instantaneous decisions required of every successful Forex trader.

The reason the Forex market exists is to ease the path of international commerce as global corporations, banks, governments, hedge funds, and financial institutions exchange huge amounts of foreign currencies with each other.

And as international commerce has grown, so has the amount of currency being exchanged each day on the Forex market. To learn Forex trading is to become part of the largest financial market in the world; the total currencies exchanged daily exceed $1.9 trillion USD. Most currency exchange transactions dollars are between one and ten million USD, but much larger amounts are not unusual.

Forex Deliveries
When you learn Forex trading you will become familiar with the differences between spot and forward deliveries. Your spot Forex trades will lead to a completed currency trade in two business days, whereas a forward Forex trade will be made based on a completion date which will not occur for a up to a year, or sometimes longer. By allowing forward Forex trades, banks can control the future flows of foreign currencies, protecting their own currency from extreme fluctuations in the exchange rates.

One of the thing you will discover when you learn Forex trading is that the currency markets have no brick-and-mortar locations like the NYSE and London Stock Exchange do. Forex trading is done entirely over the telephone or the Internet, via a network of electronic links extending into all the large urban areas of the world.

There is a trio of big players in the Forex market, and it consists of corporations, brokers, and banks. Global corporations are active in currency trading because they need to purchase foreign currency in order to do business around the world.

Other Lessons In Forex Trading
Those who wish to learn Forex trading should go into the process understanding that just as global political and economic conditions have a great effect on the currencies market, the volatility of the currencies market has a similar effect on global political and economic conditions.

As a countrys currency value rises or falls, so rises or falls its ability to compete on the global commercial scene. If a currency is devalued, its citizens will experience inflation because items imported in to e country would have cost more to purchase. And because the local currency has been devalued, the amount of more expensive foreign currency for which it can be exchanged will decrease.

But a domestic currency rapidly escalating in value will mean that imported goods are cheaper, so inflation will drop and the local currency will purchase more of a foreign currency because of its better exchange rate.

10 Ways to Avoid Printer Headaches

Even though technology is frequently changing, one thing remains constant - corporate offices will continue to print documents at a dizzying pace. Printing errors, poor print quality, and tired out-of-date equipment are the three main culprits of wasted money and time for an office. In todays workplace, dependable equipment is essential. Time is too valuable to have unreliable printers and long wait times for repair. Most business professionals agree that the efficiency of your office depends on the reliability of your printers.

Here are 10 ways to avoid those printer headaches:

Be Proactive - Dont wait for your printer to go down. Have routine cleanings performed and any worn parts replaced now before your printers experience critical errors that result in user down-time.

Select A Reliable Service Provider Your providers technicians should be fully trained and certified to work on your brand of printers. They should recognize how important your printing needs are and respond immediately to any printer issues you have. Your provider should also be able to give you detailed reports (or the tools to produce these reports) which will show your printer inventory as well as historical data on the services performed on each.

Service Programs You dont have the time to monitor your printers. Find a service provider that will automatically take care of the routine maintenance for you. Most providers will offer a variety of service programs to choose from. Select a program that will best suit your companys needs. Keep in mind that a good service program will include preventative maintenance in addition to same or next day emergency repairs. Having the right service program and provider could save you thousands of dollars a year.

Do Away With Multiple Machines With a multifunctional printer, you can fax, scan, print and copy all from one machine. By having an all-in-one printer, you can eliminate the need to have so many different machines and increase productivity.

Upgrade Your Equipment By upgrading your old tired printers, you can save money by having a lower cost per page as well as increasing your output speed. Many companies still use old outdated printers that can easily and inexpensively be upgraded to reduce costs and increase the efficiency of your office.

Refurbished Printers Consider a recertified printer for your office. Quality refurbished printers are often as reliable as new printers and allow you to upgrade while continuing to use the drivers already installed on your network as well as using the toners you already stock in your supply closet. A recertified printer from the right company will be completely refurbished inside and out and will perform flawlessly for years to come.

Having The Right Printer Before you purchase a new printer, think about what you need your printer to do and what your budget is. Knowing what size paper and what applications will be used will help your printer expert recommend the perfect printer for your needs. It is also suggested that you look at the cost of supplies along with their page yields to get an idea of how much it will cost you to use the printer.

Proper Training Your office staff should be educated on how to properly use the equipment. Knowing what printers they can use for a particular size paper, label or envelope can prevent costly service calls. Teaching all users how to correctly install the printer supplies will also reduce the need for emergency maintenance.

Proof Before Printing Printing a copy of your document to your monochrome printer to proof will not only save money on supplies and mileage on your valuable color printer, it will also save you from throwing away the more expensive paper if there is an issue with the print job.

Keep A Stock Of Supplies The #1 reason that a printer is unusable is because it has simply run out of toner. To avoid the cost of having a toner shipped to you overnight or wasting valuable time calling around hoping to find the cartridge at a local store, it is highly recommended that an adequate stock of toner is kept for each printer. Depending on how much a particular printer is used, it would be wise to have at least one cartridge on the shelf at all times. By keeping stock of toner you will also have a back up should you find that you have a defective toner. Unfortunately, no matter what brand toner you use or how much you paid for it, defective cartridges are inevitable.

The Margin Advantages of Trading FOREX.

There is one aspect that is considered as one of the best advantages of FOREX Trading. This is related to the amount of money you need to place a trade, this is known as "margin", and in short, this is all that can be lost in a the case you had a bad trade.

I state it like this because, even though I know with proper self-taught education you're NOT going to lose as much as you win anyway, I want you to know that despite the super-high leverage associated with FOREX trading (200:1 is possible; meaning that if you put up $1 the trading vendor will allow you to trade like you really have $200), it's still arguably less risky than futures (commodities) trading. And, forget stocks, you'll never get this type of LEVERAGE in the equities market.

Futures markets are often prone to sudden and dramatic moves, against which you can not protect yourself, even by trading with protective stops. Your position may be liquidated at a loss, and youll be liable for any resulting deficit in the account. But because of the FX markets deep liquidity and 24-hour, continuous trading, dangerous trading gaps and limit moves are eliminated. Orders are executed quickly, without slippage or partial fills. And finally, there are no margin calls -- for your protection, ALL our recommended brokers will automatically close out some or all of your open positions if your account equity falls below the level required to hold the positions. Think of this as a final, automatic stop, always working on your behalf to prevent a debit balance. In fact, if you pick from our list of recommended brokers, we guarantee that you will never lose more than you have in your FOREX account.

Simulated Forex Trading Uses Simulators As A Guide For Traders (Part I)

There are plenty of people trading in the forex, and why not, there are so many reasons to do it. By trading in the forex demo you are able to start by using a free demo on real time, you have a leverage of 400:1, or another simple reason is just getting into the action and trading with international currency. However, even when you practice in real time testing services and other strategies you can still fail. Using the trading demo may not be enough; the trader must know what he is doing.

There are three things that all forex traders must remember if they are to succeed: practice, reinforcement and repetition. For this you will need to refine your strategies and you will also need skills. Therefore, I recommend that traders include forex simulators in their strategies in order to save money and help themselves start as winners and not as losers.

Compared to a demo that provides functions in real time, forex simulators allow traders to upload, review, and view historical data any time. This way, traders can fast forward and rewind and recognise valuable trading signals. This means that traders can better test their knowledge of the forex and therefore improve their trade and change, so they can stay in the pace of the ever changing conditions found in the forex market.

Forex simulators are an essential tool for traders. Simulators allow a high level of training within a few days of work as traders can pause, rewind, fast forward and play around with whatever knowledge they have acquired. A five-minute timeframe can be set-up to whatever chosen area. Simulators allow you to get snapshots, use any indicators you wish, and even keep journal trades in order to refine strategies.

Wall Street to Main Street: News, Views and Commentary: June 16, 2006

Its Friday June 16, 2006, and we had some follow through in yesterdays trading session as the Nasdaq shot up over 2.8%, the S&P 500 jumped 2.1% and the Dow pushed its way through the 11,000 mark. But the volume on the Indexes werent as heavy as they shouldve been with these gains. It wouldve been a better situation for this jump to spread over a couple of days to avoid a big pullback but the market hung in there. So we may see a slight pullback today but we are looking for additional upside before the weekend.

Now lets take a look at Natural Gas. July natural gas rallied up over 61 cents to over $7.2 per mil BTU. That brings us to a company that we were hesitant about when it was over the $25 number because of a couple of reasons. First it was in a downward trading pattern and second their main source of revenue comes from the Gulf Coast, most specifically New Orleans, LA. Now its still a risky situation but under $19 your downside should be limited compared to the upside potential.

We spoke about precious and base metals moving on the upside on Thursday and thats exactly what they did by the end of the trading day. Bringing many of the gold, silver, and copper stocks right along with it. Companies like Rio Tinto (NYSE: RTP), BHP Billiton (NYSE: BHP), Crystallex International (AMEX: KRY), Newmont Mining (NYSE: NEM), Peru Copper (AMEX: CUP) and Bema Gold (AMEX: BGO) move higher, but the big boys didnt do too shabby either as Southern Copper (NYSE: PCU) added $5.94 to close at $77.94, Phelps Dodge (NYSE: PD) shot up $4.23 to close at $80.64, U.S. Steel (NYSE: X) rose $4.51 to close at $64.00 and Steel Dynamics (NASDAQ: STLD) traded up $4.66 to close at $55.57.

Now the precious and base metal stocks were not the only ones to do the whatoosie, oil and oil related stocks joined the party as companies like Petroleo Brasil (NYSE: PBR) which traded up $5.37 to close at $78.47, Oceaneering International (NYSE: OII) which traded up $6.59 to close at $78.96 and Ultra Petroleum (NYSE: UPL) which traded up $5.06 to close at $52.69 added to the rally as crude oil prices rose.

Now we should see follow through today in the oil sector as traders may be covering their short positions ahead of the weekend.

Political Front

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is continuing to get as much out of this tense situation as possible as he said a set of incentives and penalties aimed at persuading Tehran to curtail its nuclear programs was a positive step but left the door open in regards to how they would respond. So the beat goes on.

In the United States, President Bush inked the paperwork that has established the largest ocean wildlife reserve in the world. It is located along a string of islands and reefs that stretch 1,400 miles northwest of the main Hawaiian Islands. So President Bush is on a roll as this is sure to tack on to his favorable rating.

Sticking to the U.S., House Republicans have structured a debate on Iraq to show support for the U.S. Troops. The intent is to force lawmakers to take a position either way on withdrawing U.S. forces from Iraq in its fourth year. This is scheduled to kick off today.

Tid Bits

The founder of Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) and one the richest people on the planet, Bill Gates, will be hanging up his day to day hat at the company by 2008, he will be passing the baton to his Chief Technology Officer Ray Ozzie when he steps down. Gates will be concentrating on his charitable efforts through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Now rumors are spreading rapidly that Steve Ballmer will be the next to step aside as the software giant struggles to find a way to keep itself relevant in the coming years as companies like Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) are nipping at its heels.

China Construction Bank is having a fire sale as they have sold a decent portfolio of reposed mortgage assets with a face value of US$120 million (960 million yuan) to a foreign investment group. They only received 19% of the face value of the assets, so hence the fire sale. This included both commercial property and land. This is just the start as they are scheduled to unload another billion plus worth of repossessed mortgages by year-end.

Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) is on a tear as they have just unveiled a government site search, basically this is a new function that will allow web surfers to locate data and information that are available on federal agency websites. This should come in handy not only for web surfers but for the government agencies themselves, giving their employees access to information quickly and easily.

After a series of question and answer sessions with the U.S Attorneys Office and the SEC, it came to light that the former CEO of the New York Stock Exchange Richard Grasso took the 5th over 150 times during the numerous sessions with them. Grasso brought value to the NYSE during his tenure, he was attacked for his compensation package, which was voted on by the then members of the NYSE, and he continues to be hounded as it relates to the AIG situation. This is a developing situation.

Movers and Shakers

Some major movers in yesterdays trading session included Energy Conversion Devices (NASDAQ: ENER), which traded up $5.44 to close at $37.43 on Thursday. The stock just rode the momentum of the sector and you should see some follow through in todays trading session.

GFI Group Inc (NASDAQ: GFIG) shot up yesterday after Citigroup Investment Research upgraded the stock from a Hold to A Buy. It rose $5.42 to close at $52.05.

Las Vegas Sands (NYSE: LVS) shot up $4.78 to close at $68.05, which brings the stock closer to its 52 week high. But we may see a pullback on the stock after the quick run up.

Steve Madden Ltd. (NASDAQ: SHOO) was upgraded to a Strong Buy from an Accumulate by C.L. King, this upgrade sent the stock up $4.64 to close at $30.08. Now the stock still has legs as it could continue it forward motion and reach the $33 maybe $35 mark in the coming weeks.

CEMEX (NYSE: CX) traded up $5.10 to close at $54.64, the company agreed to cancel a US$400-500 million arbitration case against the Indonesian government over a failed put option deal for acquiring a majority stake in PT Semen Gresik. Now it still remains to be seen if this cancellation will open the doors for Cemex to close a US$337 million deal to sell its 24 plus percent Gresik stake to the Rajawali Group. If they do get the green light this could boost the stock further.

Bear Stearns (NYSE: BSC) kick off the financial sector upward swing when they reported blockbuster numbers, the stock rose $7.36 to close at $131.56, while Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS) traded up $5.62 to close at $144.12 and Black Rock (NYSE: BLK) settled in as it traded up $5.82 to close at $128.33. The whole sector moved higher but we are not going to list every company that moved up. A lot of the brokerage stocks are still not peaking so keep an eye on them, as they are sure to move much higher in 2006.

Forex Trading And Home Business

Forex, ie foreign exchange market has become very popular due to its immense size, liquidity, currencies moving in strong trends plus, an easy online access, relatively low starting capital and a big leverage.

All this is very attractive to many sorts of investors, speculators and also amateur people, especially online success chasers who imagine easy and fast profits. BUT it has its pitfalls and the Internet hype sellers and scammers make the situation even more dangerous.

Forex has enormous profit potential but since there is a substantial leverage involved working both ways, the same is the loss potential - the higher the profits, the higher the risk involved. And that is exactly the core of success in forex which is hidden from people seeking fast online profits.

People lacking basic character streaks like discipline, risk evaluation ability, experience and even basic information and training fall prey to false promises and start trading their last money on forex expecting quick riches.

It is necessary to be aware of the fact that trading currencies is not easy. If it was, no one would lose money and everyone would already be a millionaire. Many traders with years of experience still incur periodic losses. Everyone interested in trading forex must realize that trading takes time to master and there are absolutely no shortcuts to this process.

Yes, of course, it is possible to make it a long-term, profitable and sustainable source of high income and even a proper home business BUT the following are the basic rules for success in forex trading:

1. Discipline: it seems easy but the lack of discipline is the profit killer no 1. It is important to set your own rules and goals and stick to them. Do not panic if not everything goes the way you imagine and strictly keep the rules. One of the basic situations is losses: If you know you can lose only $1000, the discipline will help you stop trading if it happens, and not borrow and go on and on... Also, it is the discipline which helps you avoid magic profit calculations.

2. Responsible risk-taking and risk-evaluation ability: forex trading is an investment method not a casino. It is not possible to invest properly if you are not able to take up a calculated risk, if you are not able to calculate an acceptable risk, and if you are not able to even recognize a risk. The good news is that you can develop this ability.

3. Spare money: never trade your last money, always invest either profit or a reasonable amount of money you can lose. Always behave responsibly and never borrow money to trade.

4. Thorough education and training, incl practical training: it is imperative that before you start trading live, you get proper education and training, that you acquire working knowledge and develop your own working system on which you can build your investment strategies, routines and practice.

5. Never trade in a live-or-die situation or under any stress: many gurus say that you can make instant riches from forex investing your last money. It is one of the biggest lies I ever heard. Unless you feel absolutely comfortable, knowing what you are doing and why, enjoying the trading, you cannot trade successfully. Any stressed, unbalanced or anxious mind and brain is not able to evaluate situations correctly, react competently, and it is a paved road to failure and losses.

6. Always do your homework: another hype you can hear around says that everyone can trade just following someone else's advice and instructions. I can tell you only one word as an answer: rubbish. You must realize that you must be able to evaluate every situation, every trend, every forecast, create all the analysis, follow necessary trends, incl, of course, hearing specialized analysts BUT the decision and the money is yours only, so the responsibility is yours. The better your homework, the higher and more reliable your profits.

7. Learn from your mistakes and remain flexible: you must know that you will make mistakes, you will even lose in some trades but you must be a great trader and you must know it. When you make a mistake you must analyze the situation, find out why it happened and see to it that you will not repeat the same mistake in the future. You must not despair and fall into depression. You must stay positive and simply do better next time.

Plus a little closing note to only make you aware of these important topics which, however, exceed the scope of this basic informational article:

- yet another risk is here: it is vital to choose the right market-maker, big enough to allow you to make full use of currency moves. I stress a market-maker and not a broker,

and also,

- avoid managed accounts.

In case you are interested in mastering forex trading and start with the above points seriously, you are on the right way to trading success.

The Investment Philosophy of Warren Buffett - In 23 Quotes

Warren Buffett is the most successful investor of our time, perhaps of any time. He is famous for his pithy quotes, which often appear in his annual letter to shareholders.

Taken together, his quotes pretty well sum up his investment philosophy and approach. Here are his best sound bites of all time on being a sensible investor.

1.Rule No.1: Never lose money. Rule No.2: Never forget rule No.1.

2.Investing is laying out money now to get more money back in the future.

3.Never invest in a business you cannot understand.

4.I don't look to jump over 7-foot bars: I look around for 1-foot bars that I can step over.

5.I put heavy weight on certainty. It's not risky to buy securities at a fraction of what they're worth.

6.If a business does well, the stock eventually follows.

7.It's far better to buy a wonderful company at a fair price than a fair company at a wonderful price.

8.Time is the friend of the wonderful company, the enemy of the mediocre.

9.For some reason people take their cues from price action rather than from values. Price is what you pay. Value is what you get.

10.In the short run, the market is a voting machine. In the long run, it's a weighing machine.

11.The most common cause of low prices is pessimism. We want to do business in such an environment, not because we like pessimism, but because we like the prices it produces. It's optimism that is the enemy of the rational buyer. None of this means, however, that a business or stock is an intelligent purchase simply because it is unpopular; a contrarian approach is just as foolish as a follow-the-crowd strategy. What's required is thinking rather than polling.

12.Risk comes from not knowing what you're doing.

13.It is better to be approximately right than precisely wrong.

14.All there is to investing is picking good stocks at good times and staying with them as long as they remain good companies.

15.Wide diversification is only required when investors do not understand what they are doing.

16.You do things when the opportunities come along. I have had periods in my life when I have had a bundle of ideas come along, and I've had long dry spells. If I get an idea next week, I'll do something. If not, I won't do a damn thing.

17.[On the dot-com bubble:] What we learn from history is that people dont learn from history.

18.You are neither right nor wrong because the crowd disagrees with you. You are right because your data and reasoning are right.

19.You don't need to be a rocket scientist. Investing is not a game where the guy with the 160 IQ beats the guy with 130 IQ.

20.You should invest in a business that even a fool can run, because someday a fool will.

21.When a management with a reputation for brilliance tackles a business with a reputation for bad economics, it is the reputation of the business that remains intact.

22.The best business returns are usually achieved by companies that are doing something quite similar today to what they were doing five or ten years ago.

23.Diversification may preserve wealth, but concentration builds wealth.

Day Trading Courses

Day trading is the practice of buying and selling currencies before the close of the Foreign Exchange each day hopefully for the most profit. Anyone with a little money to invest can now trade over the internet. But its best to know a little bit about what youre doing first and theres no shortage of day trading courses to teach you about that.

Courses can be studied online or in face-to-face classes and duration differs between one day to five days - or indefinitely if you teach yourself in an internet correspondence course.

You dont need any specific paper qualifications in order to trade but you do need a few skills and a bit of knowledge that you could gain through a day trading course.

You will need to shop around, because courses can cost anything between $2,000 and $12,000 and they vary massively in quality for these prices its not always true to say that the most expensive option is the best one; it all depends on what you are looking for.

Here are a few of your options so you can see which one might be right for you.

Online

Since Day Trading University came online, there have sprung up literally hundreds of websites offering day trading courses supposedly to university standard but be wary of these claims. These courses are unregulated, especially on the internet. You want to make doubly sure that they offer you the tuition you need.

Makes sure that the website you give your hard-earned cash to, to teach you day trading, is not simply an article directory. Thats not a substitute for a proper course in day trading and is probably not something that you want to be paying too much for. To maximize the benefit of an online course, it should offer you multimedia audio or video clips as well as downloadable activities and charts to continue and consolidate your learning.

Books
Home study courses in day trading are also available in book form. They are easy t peruse at your leisure and you can browse before you buy, so you know exactly what youre getting. But books dont have the multi-sensory approach that a good website will have, with audio and visual streaming. It works for some people though. Many are written by experts in the field.

Face-to-face courses
This is where you might be spending big bucks to learn about day trading: make sure its worth it.

Tuition can be large group, small group or even one-to-one, although you may have to pay through the nose for one-to-one tuition. Be sure you really need it before you lay out your course fee, bearing in mind that if you are assertive and confident enough, *any* face-to-face tuition offers you the chance to ask the tutor(s) any specific questions which you might have.

Here are a few things you should be looking for in a good day trading course, whether that be face to face, online or in a book:
What to trade in
OK so that one was obvious, but how do you spot an opportunity for bigger trading profits? A good course should tell you this. On the flip side, they should inform you of what sort of trading to avoid and why, so you dont make big, costly mistakes.

Trading psychology
What is the best mindset for a successful trader? What opportunities should you look for? Who makes the most money?

Long-term and short-term trading
Now, as were talking day trading here, there is no real long-term, but a good trading course will differentiate between deals you strike every few minutes and ones you should sit on for a few hours. You need to recognize these in order to maximize your profits. Find out how to pick momentum stocks every day to squeeze the most out of your money. Tools of the trade

A good course will not be trying to sell you anything, so watch out for courses and books linked to a particular product or automated trading software. Of course theyll tell you that is the best one but you know your own mind. Make it up yourself without the sales pitch.

However, day trading need not be about constantly sitting at your computer, glued to currency reports. Automated trading is a great boost to day trading, and a good course should give you some ideas of what automation software is out there and how to discriminate between the packages available.

Now you know some of the options as far as day trading courses go and what to look for, you should be able to find the right training option for you.

How to Avoid Forex Trading Scams

Currency trading scams can take many forms. Essentially it means defrauding individual traders by convincing them that they can make huge profits by trading in foreign currency.

A retail trader can be asked to pay commissions, buy some sort of software promising high profits, participating in fake managed accounts, false advertising, ponzi or HYIP schemes and plain fraud. All of these will constitute currency scams.

Foreign currency trading involves equal potential for both profits and losses. If somebody claims that there is minimal risk and great profit potential in forex trading, that is also forex scam.

Forex scams mostly occur with non-bank forex traders. The main reason being ignorance of individuals, greed, lack of education, improper selection of brokers or trading platforms and lack of control.

One main reason for forex frauds is that this is a highly unregulated market. There is no central agency which regulates it nor is there any central clearing agency.

There is some regulation of forex market in US by the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and National Futures Association (NFA), but it is quite loose. CFTC has reported an increase in dishonest practices in non-bank forex trading.

Individual forex currency trading has increased significantly over the last few years and so have fraudulent activities. This may continue like that unless there is further regulation.

According to CFTC, about 23,000 customers were defrauded to the extent of $300 million between 2001 and 2006, leading to the prosecution of 80 people mostly in managed accounts.

Since there is no central currency market, it is very difficult to prove scams and frauds. Technical, over the counter (OTC) and unregulated nature of the forex market make currency trading vulnerable to fraud.

CFTC has recommended 9 guidelines that every individual forex trader should follow while trading foreign exchange. These are:

1.Beware of companies which promise huge profits with minimal risk.

2.There are no guaranteed profits. One should avoid any scheme which promises a fixed amount of return or any other guaranteed level of returns.

3.Avoid companies which guarantee no or least amount of risk. Dont risk your retirement funds in a forex market.

4.Watch your investments in inter bank market. If some forex brokers claim to be engaged in such a market, be cautious and ask for full information.

5.Dont trade on margin. One should understand that one can lose amounts much larger than margin amounts that one pays. One should clearly understand margins, before committing.

6.Dont send or transfer cash on the internet as it can be lost for ever. It is highly unsafe. Many companies do not indicate their addresses or contact numbers on their websites. Avoid these companies.

7.Members of ethnic minorities like Russian, Chinese and Indian should particularly beware of fraudulent companies. They should not trade with their own funds if appointed on these companies as company executives etc.

8.Before committing with any company, one should obtain as much information about the company as possible. It should be verified from 3rd party sources.

9.Avoid dealing with anyone who refuses to divulge their background.
